  • Senior consultant and expert in Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for major French companies (Transiciel, Cap Gemini, GFI).
  • Later served as senior IT consultant for the American multinational PPG Industries (2007–2011).

Political and Civic Engagement

  • Student union activist at Tunisian universities (1988–1991).
    • Imprisoned for six months for union activities.
    • Spent nearly 20 years in forced exile in Mauritania, Senegal, and later as a political refugee in France.
  • Human rights and democracy activist for Tunisia and the Arab world during exile.
  • Founding member of the Congress for the Republic Party (CPR) with Dr. Moncef Marzouki (2001).
  • Member of the organizing committee of the Democratic Opposition Dialogue Conference (Aix-en-Provence, March 2003).
  • President of the International Organization of Tunisian Expatriates (2009).
  • Actively supported the Tunisian Revolution from abroad and returned to Tunisia on January 18, 2011, after 6,990 days in exile.
  • Elected Member of the National Constituent Assembly representing Tunisians in Northern France (2011), head of the CPR list.
  • Minister-Chief of Staff to the President (Dec. 2011 – May 2013) under President Moncef Marzouki.
    • Oversaw presidential activities, foreign relations, national dialogue initiatives, coordination with the government and the Constituent Assembly, and supervision of the presidential security service.
  • Resigned from the presidency to become Secretary-General of the Congress for the Republic Party (2013–2015) and led the party’s campaign for the 2014 legislative elections.
  • Vice President, then Secretary-General of the Harak Tounes Al-Irada party (2015–2018).
  • Elected Member of Parliament (2014–2019) representing the Medenine constituency.
    • Served as Rapporteur of the Committee on Rights, Freedoms, and Foreign Relations, representing opposition MPs.
    • Contributed to drafting major laws promoting freedoms (Combating Violence Against Women, Combating Human Trafficking, Personal Data Protection, etc.) and transparency (Access to Information, Whistleblower Protection, Asset Declaration and Conflict of Interest Prevention, Good Governance and Anti-Corruption Authority, etc.).
    • Member of the Defense and Security Committee, and participated in four training sessions at the National Defense Institute of Tunisia.
    • Member of the Parliamentary Delegation for the Partnership and Membership Agreement with the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

 

Other Activities

  • Member of the Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC) (since 2017).
  • Member of the Global Parliamentarians Forum for Evaluation (since 2018).
  • Member of the World Movement for Democracy (since 2023).
  • Founder of Marsad Raqaba” (Accountability Observatory) — a leading Tunisian NGO promoting citizen oversight, good governance, and anti-corruption culture (since 2019).
    • The observatory is among the most active in Tunisia, the Arab world, and Africa in awareness campaigns, investigative reports, and filing cases before local courts and UN mechanisms.
  • Executive Director of the Arab Council Foundation in Geneva (2022–2024), dedicated to promoting democracy and human rights in the Arab world and training young leaders.
  • Political essayist and columnist, published on Al Jazeera Net, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, L’Obs (France), and other international media outlets.
  • Author of a book (2010) on Tunisian expatriates and currently finalizing a new book presenting a comprehensive political and economic vision for Tunisia titled Tunisia Possible.”
